A salt water pool is still chlorine. The generator uses salt to create it. Every week I test my chlorine level in my salt water pool. All pools are full of chemicals. The only difference is the salt. A salt water pool has around 4000 ppm of salt.

I had the same issue as the gal below..I have a huge kitchen faucet that is wide/spray, so I went to the shallow bathroom sink, suctioned it on, and held the filter sideways with a bend in it, and a sponge to collect the water since the sink is not deep enough to have it be vertical below the faucet. Ok,,,,working? Well, it seemed to be working, did a minute each filter, then, I see water pooling up near the toilet..and....there was an inch of water under the bathroom sink in the cabinet and pouring out the side of the bottom drawer , cabinet which is FULL of toilietries, luckily, all in plastic baskets! BUT, each one had half an inch of water in it, only destroyed 2 cardboard boxes, but that clean up just took an hour. There MUSt be a better way!! I am going to see if one can just soak them in water??

Why couldn’t someone purchase a genuine Berkeley black filters then swap out the filters for fake black ones then close up the box. Hologram and all, but fake filters.

I believe all components of my Travel Berkey are authentic. However, the PF-2 filters are giving off a distinct chemical plastic-like smell. Is this normal? I installed the filters and primed according to directions very carefully. The water itself seems fine with no smell or taste but worry a bit about leachate. . .

Yeah, but people who have purchased authentic Berkey filters can still reuse that box to resell fake ones. Giving them the authentic sticker and box while conning other unsuspecting people.

I cleaned mine today just because the water wasn't tasting so good. Lots of orange junk on there. Put it back together and NOW it's barely dripping. Could I have tightened things too much. It does have the two black filters and the two flouride ones.

This is ridiculous. First I was only sent one washer so that appears to be part of the problem. Second this is an expensive product to have so.msny people have the same problem. Which suggests there is a problem with the basic engineering or design of it. Third the instructions are vague at best if we all have to go to a UA-cam video just to figure it out. 4th with all the glowing reviews you'd think this product arrived from heaven. 5th my water tastes like a filter. Way too many problems for an expensive product like this. I'm considering returning it this point. Did I mention this is ridiculous?

What about the berkey imprint on the bottom face of the plastic spout that interfaces with the tank? Is that ever counterfeited?

I have a possibly dumb question… I’ve heard of ppl overflowing their burkey by adding too much water to it. How do you know when to refill it? I just opened mine today and set it all up, watered the plants, the dogs , myself lol now it’s low and I just want to make sure I’m doing it correctly. lol 😂

Berkey does not take out fluoride with is a by product from fertilizer and aluminum production. And dumped in our municipalities. Should be criminal act for doing that to us.

I attached this to my faucet and ran the water on low. Everything was fine. Once I attached the black filter water came pouring out from under my kitchen sink. Any idea how/why this happened?

I have followed these explicit instructions, doing exactly what you demonstrate and I have to continue pumping for 10 minutes, watching the air bubbles leave the filter into the water but at no point does water start coming up through the filter and out the elbow end. What do you suggest for me?

I received Berkey this past Wednesday. I love it. However, I had a slight leak at the tap where it inserts to the bottom of the container. Long story short, the black rubber ring that sits on the bottom was creating that leak by the weight of the water it was making the black rubber ring to push up against the sealer ring. I took the black bottom ring off and gently cut a slightly half moon shape out. Put the black rubber ring back on, with the half moon cut out sitting right under the spigot. Tah-dah.....it is not leaking!!!! Whewww! That made my day!

I’m new to the Berkey system and plan to buy a Big Berkey 8.5 liter system with 2 filters. I’m having trouble doing the math. There are 4 people and we will just use it for drinking water. Approximately how long until I need new filters? Customer service wasn’t so friendly. Thank you so much.

Yeah. Booo hoo didn’t bother. He says replace because it ruins the warranty. Just so you know, my stem cracked apart and I used epoxy from Harbor freight. I think I did a pretty good job, but it did not hold for long.

I accidentally washed my Berkey filters, fluoride and charcoal, with mildly soapy water, and rinsed thoroughly. Are they ruined or am I able to use them as long as I don’t do that again lol.

Berkey filters suck. what kind of BS is this..having to prime a $500 dollar water filter... JUNK.....going in the trash. THANK GOD they went out of business.
